Gabriel & Deborah Fabule/YWAM

In December 2009, we asked YWAM for extended leave to focus on strengthening our local church leaders in Delft and East London.  Our calling is to reach the South African townships with the gospel through church planting and community development.  We have labored for 7 years in the townships and are just now seeing some local leaders modeling a Christian lifestyle.  These leaders will become our future deacons and elders.

Gabriel returned to YWAM in September 2010, and Deborah after she completed her Master's degree in February.

Kitchens and Churches:  April-May 2010

In mid-March, Pastors Vernon and RuthAnn Dean came to Cape Town.  The Deans are from Christian Assembly, Deborah's home church in Vienna, VA.  They were busy with Pastors' Seminars, Sunday services, prayer meetings, and time with us.  They also brought with them a gift from the church... a new kitchen!  We mentioned last year that our kitchen needed repair.  Christian Assembly rose to the challenge, and we were initiated into the world of "home improvement"--managing budgets, contractors, delays, and massive water leaks.  By the end of May, we commissioned our "Coffee Shop" Kitchen in honor of Christian Assembly's coffee-shop style fellowship lobby.

Another commissioning happened in May, when, in an emotional service filled with God's presence, Gabriel commissioned LSFM Church in Delft, Cape Town.  In April, we had started the process of dividing the LSFM Cape Town Church into two fellowships, so the Mfuleni Church would meet at the community hall and Delft Church would meet in the wooden church meeting house on the LSFM property.  Gabriel will pastor the church in Mfuleni and Pastor Stephen Akinume from Nigeria will oversee the church in Delft.
